Nicely done BigH. A very touching tribute. I'm sure Steve would be glad to know that folks like you are continuing his conservation/education efforts. Keep up the good work.

I've been looking at pictures of him in the tributes around the net, what I continually notice is the expression on his face, he always had a smile and the pictures show just how much he enjoyed life and the enthusiasm he was known for.
I just can't help but feel sad for young Bob, Bindi and of course Terri. They'll carry on his work at the Australia Zoo I'm sure, it will be tough going not having Steve there with them but from what I've seen they are surrounded by many friends and family and the love of people around the world.
Steve will never be forgotten.

Crikey BigHarold...i just cried my eyes out watching that!
Great tribute to a man who touched the lives of so many people; people that would otherwise never understand that Humans arent the only creatures on this planet; people that would otherwise never realize the threat we pose to the wildlife that we share this planet with!
The man was a true Warrior and his passion for conservation and educating us will, hopefully, never be forgotten.
Damn, he was too young to go.

My biggest inspiration for the music was Steve himself. Anytime he tried to comfort a dying animal, he would always say, "It's God's way."

very good man. my only critisism is his programs them selves. they always seemed to be more about him than the animals. but fair play he did a good job. some people are asking for the release of the footage of him dieing saying thats what he would have wanted. but.....maybe thats a little sick.

There's a discussion thread over at ARC about this too. One of the regs there says that Steve was also a WWII history buff and did a series of documentarys on the subject too, I think the series title is "Ghosts of the Pacific"
I'd like to see that.

He was a huge supporter of both the American and Australian militaries. One of his wildlife documentaries showed abandoned airplanes from a former Australian WWII base. He also visited Luke AFB right near my home and took the time out to talk with the men and women there. I also remember an episode where got to ride in a jet.

I don't think you can say that about his first few seasons. But after that his hardcore fan-base wanted to know more and more about him, and his production company delivered. They did begin to focus more on him, his family, and his friends and co-workers at the zoo. That all ended with the baby Bob incident, which I hope we won't re-hash here.

I agree with your mother, although steve did teach many about animals etc..
his programs were about him and stuff.
he provoked dangerous animals for a living and ,although interesting, it was bound to happen soon anyway.
i just find it interesting that he was killed by something that has only had 3 recorded human killings!!
